The Best Asian Countries To Visit
With Asia being the largest and most densely populated continent on the planet, deciding to go can be incredibly hard. From the popular locations of Bali & Tokyo, to the most remote parts of the Gobi desert, Asia has no shortage of adventure to explore. In this article we’re going to look at 10 of the best Asian countries to visit!
1. Jordan

This Middle Eastern Asian country is definitely one of the most interesting Asian countries. Bordered all the way round by countries that often have many problems and wars, Jordan has joined the ‘Swiss’ way and remained neutral and problem free for many years.
Its the safest and friendliest country in the area and has become increasingly popular due to having one of the new wonders of the world, Petra. This is a big reason why it’s one of the best Asian countries to visit.

2. Azerbaijan

Another next interesting Asian country is the exotic sounding Azerbaijan! Nestled between Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Iran and the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan is a truly incredible country.
Although stunningly traditional in most places, Azerbaijan also has some incredible modern architecture which could rival that of Dubai.
Its also an oil rich country but can be travelled on a reasonable budget if needed making it one of the best Asian countries to visit.
3. Oman

Whilst many people head to Dubai to experience the luxury hotels, many don’t venture to the country further South of the UAE.
As for why this country hasn’t become a major travel spot remains unknown. Its a safe place to travel with very few issues unlike the countries that surround it and has been dubbed ‘The Norway of Arabia’ for its incredible mountains and crystal blue Lagoons dotted about in the deserts.
Whilst more hotels are popping up, it is still vastly unexplored and one of the best Asian countries to visit to escape the cold European weather.
4. Uzbekistan

One of the many ‘Stans in Central Asia, Uzbek is quickly increasing in popularity due the recent changes to visas making it easier to visit.
Whilst the capital Tashkent is a big modern city, it has a range of ancient cities with insane architecture like Samarkand and Bukhara.
Most visits to Uzbek are problem free and although it is a semi-strict Muslim country, as long as you follow the local guidelines it is an incredibly rewarding place to visit.

5. Kyrgyzstan

A super cheap haven for mountaineers, skiers, snowboarders and trekkers. Kyrgyzstan is 94% mountains which have some of the tallest in Central Asia.
The tallest is over 7,400m and there remains many mountains which have never been summited which is increasingly rare to find in the rest of the world. If you like extreme sports, It also holds someone of the world’s cheapest Heli-skiing packages so you can enjoy a mountain to yourself.
It’s one of the poorest countries in the world meaning you can experience it on little more than £10 a day and it’s one of the best Asian countries to visit for cheap skiing.
6. Tajikistan

Another highly mountainous country is one of the most unheard of in the world, Tajikistan. It consists of over 90% mountains and is know for its abundance of rivers that flow throughout the country.
Some consider it one of the most corrupt countries in the world due to the constant requests for bribes but its mainly due to it being an incredibly poor country.
Tourism is slowly starting to rise however and after Covid-19 its expected more people from all over the world will start to visit. Its been made easier with mountains. However it offers much more than that.
We had an absolutely incredible time exploring Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan and would thoroughly recommend anyone visit as it’s high up on the best Asian countries to visit list.
7. Myanmar

Check travel advice before going to Myanmar (Burma) Although there’s many political problems at the moment and the country is under a state of martial law, once things settle down again (hopefully), Myanmar will return to being a great place to explore. Check Official Travel Advice Here
Its main religion is Buddhist and the country covered in golden temples and dense jungle. It has lots of beautiful beaches which could easily rival its neighbour, Thailand. This is a great reason why it’s one of the best Asian countries to visit.
Another very unexpected treat with Myanmar is that they have many wineries to explore and have a great range of beer and whisky too. Backpackers can also enjoy jungle excusions, trekking and swimming in some of the many waterfalls around the country!
8. Laos

Laos could be considered a backpackers paradise with incredible jungles, lagoons, waterfalls and lazy rivers. Although the backpacking scene is a lot smaller than its neighbours in Thailand & Vietnam, it is quickly growing in popularity.
It is also considered one of the safest and best Asian countries to visit and each year many more hostels are popping up to accommodate the growing community of travellers.
You can hire a motorbike and explore the vast hills and mountains or simply chill out on the Mekong River in a canoe or dingy.
9. Mongolia

Very rarely visited by tourists, many seem to skip this beautiful destination nestled between Russia & China. Its home to the famous Gobi desert which can be explored using local camels and it home to some insane sand dunes which can rival the one in Erg Chebbi, Morocco.
Before the problems with Russia began, the capital Ulaanbaatar could be reach via the Transmongolian railway which stretches from St. Petersburg to Beijing.
Other great places to visit Mongolia include its range of valleys, steppes, cliff and canyons – Truly a place for off the beaten track travellers who want to travel one of the best Asian countries to visit.
10. Taiwan

A modern Chinese/Japanese fusion, Taiwan will give you a taste of both. Although more expensive than most of the countries on this list, it offers a very diverse trip.
Start in Taipei, a bustling modern city with its tallest building (previously tallest in the world) the Taipei 101 building.
Scooters can be rented to explore the city and there’s a great range of Asian food to be discovered. Venture further out and you will discover thick jungles, pristone beaches and steaming hot springs!
